EMRI 108 ambulance workers (affiliated to COITU) those who are in shifts hoisted the movement of submitting petition to the district collectors of Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Coimbatore, Cuddalore and Dharmapuri. The collectors received the petition and handled the claims of the petition direct under themselves without posting it to the appropriate departments. Especially the collectors of Virudhunagar and Coimbatore warned the administrations should not retaliate against the workers who have given the petition which was quite confident to the workers in the other district. The workers haven’t given petition in the rest of the district has planned to do the same in the following days.

Job insecurity hits 108 ambulance drivers, nurses

It seems the nursing staff and drivers serving in the ambulances introduced under Arogya Kavacha 108 scheme, who strive hard to save the lives of others, do not enjoy a secured job themselves. 

Karnataka State Arogya Kavacha 108 Employees Union has alleged that, as many as 18 workers, had been dismissed from the service in the past 20 days for taking part in the State-level convention of the union organised in Shimoga on May 12.

The Arogya Kavacha 108 ambulance service introduced under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) is managed by GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute in the State. The combined strength of drivers called as pilots and nursing staff called as emergency medical technicians in the State exceeds 2,000.

The Workers of 108 Ambulance from Nagercoil filed a petition against the autocratic approach of their district management to the collector of Kanyakumari District. By dismissing a 108 ambulance Worker named Babu, the management took their revenge against the Workers. On account of this incident all the Workers of 108 Ambulance from Nagercoil waged a collective struggle against the management in the pursuit of District Collector on 04/07/2011.

கன்னியாகுமரியில் இருந்து  சென்னை வரை ‘அவசர உதவி’ என்றால் 108  என்று ஆக்கியது நமது உழைப்பு தான். பலருக்கு அவசர காலத்தில் உயிர் கொடுத்த நம்முடைய கோரிக்கைகள் வென்றெடுக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென்றால் சங்கமாக அணிதிரண்டு , பல போராட்டங்களை முன்னெடுப்பதன் மூலமே சாத்தியமாகும். நமது சக தொழிலாளி பணியில் இருந்து நீக்கப்படுகிறார் என்பதை நாம் தட்டி கேட்காமல் இருந்தால் நாளை நாம் பணியில் இருந்து நீக்கப்படுவோம் என்பதை நினைவில் கொள்ள வேண்டும். நிர்வாகத்திற்கு தகவல் சொல்லி ஒட்டுவேலை பார்ப்பதால் நிர்வாகம் உங்களுக்கு சலுகைகள் காட்டும் என்று நீங்கள் எதிர்பார்த்தீர்கள் என்றால் அது தான் மிகப்பெரிய முட்டாள் தனமாக இருக்கும். நிர்வாகம் உங்களை கறிவேப்பிலையாக பயன்படுத்தி கொண்டு தூக்கி எறிந்துவிடும். ஆத்தோடு சக தொழிலாளியின் வாழ்க்கையை கெடுத்தவர் என்ற மிகப்பெரிய குற்ற உணர்வும் உண்டாகும். நமது பலமே நம்மிடம் உள்ள ஒற்றுமைதான் என்பதை நாம் திரும்ப திரும்ப நினைவில் கொள்வோம். நமது ஒற்றுமையின் மூலமே நமக்கான கோரிக்கைகளை வென்றெடுக்க முடியும்.
