The GVK-EMRI 108 Ambulance service management personnel Mr. Paul Robinson and Mr. Kumaran acting as District managers of Trichy and Salem districts are resorting to acts of victimisation against our union activists who participated in lawful trade union activities.

On behalf of our union we held one demonstration in front of Valluvar Kottam, Chennai on 26.09.2013 against the violation of the principles of natural justice in conducting domestic enquiries. Our active members from various parts of the state took part in that demonstration. Some among those participating are Mr. Suresh – EMT – Namakkal and Mr. Gobi – Pilot of Perambalur and 2 others from Karur locations. For these 4 members the salary for the month of July has not been credited in their accounts while it has been credited to all other staff.

Further the above 2 Pilots from Karur location have also been asked to go deputation to Coimbatore when there are sufficient number of EMTs and Pilotsin Coimbatore to conduct the service, wantonly they are being asked to go there from Karur by way of victimisation.  

The Pilots and EMTs working in GVK-EMRI, Tamilnadu are getting a meagre wage of Rs 7000/- to 8000/- per month. Further for going on deputation to a place which is considerably far away from the original locations where they are being with their family members entails extra expenses for maintenance and staying for which no allowances is paid in this concern. Hence with the intention of harassing those members only these unlawful acts are being resorted to by Mr. Paul Robinson and Mr. Kumaran, the DMs of Trichy and salem districts who are being effectively used to terrorise the ground level workers who are denied of rights enshrined in labour welfare legislations raise their heads and fight for their legitimate rights. It is also to be noted that against these 2 executives cases of women worker harassment one at Oddanchatram near Palani and Ramanathapuram are bending. They are openly telling that for participating in the Chennai Demonstration only these actions are being resorted to.

It is needless to say that these are acts of curtailing the lawful trade union activities is an affront on the workers and their rights and an act of unfair labour practice. Further it is a violation of a cardinal principle of ILO convention also. As per ILO convention denying collective bargaining amounts to forced labour which is an act prohibited all over the civilized world.

Hence we pray that your honourable office should come forward to intervene in this matter and do the needful for the prevention of our members from being harassed by means of unfair labour practices and to initiate suitable action against these two executives Mr. Paul Robinson and Mr. Kumaran.
