'108' employees strike work - andhra pradesh

Several '108' ambulances remained off the roads in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district on Monday with drivers and emergency medicine technicians demanding that the government takeover the service.
The employees who sat on an indefinite strike at Indira Park claimed that they were getting irregular salaries over the last two months. While sources said that serious efforts were on to resolve the crisis, spokesperson of GVK-EMRI, the private partner who runs the service, claimed that all was well.

Around 100 staffers of '108' struck work and sat on a day-long dharna at Indira Park. The employees claimed that the management was not paying salaries regularly for the last two months. K Srinivas Rao, a driver with '108' said, "For July, we were paid 50 per cent of the meagre Rs 8,000 that we earn. For August, we were paid only Rs 1,500."
